Hey everyone, welcome back to the channel! Today, we’re working on a classic—my Vespa PX200. If you’ve been experiencing rough idling or sluggish acceleration, the problem could very well be the carburetor. So, in this video, I’m going to show you how to clean, repair, and properly set up your Vespa PX200's Dellorto SI 24/24 carb. Let’s get to work! [Scene 1: Understanding the Carburetor] In another Video on my Channel :-) The Dellorto SI 24/24 is the heart of the Vespa PX200’s fuel system. It’s a precision piece of engineering that controls the air-fuel mixture for smooth performance. But over time, gunk builds up, jets get clogged, and settings need adjusting. That’s where we come in. Let's tear this carb down and bring it back to life! [Scene 2: Disassembly] In another Video on my Channel :-) First things first, let’s remove the carb from the scooter. Disconnect the fuel line, intake manifold, and throttle cable. Then, unscrew the carb from the engine. Now we’re in! Let’s take off the float bowl and start with the basics. Gently remove the float and needle valve, making sure not to damage anything. After that, take out the jets—the main jet, idle jet, and the air screw. [Scene 3: Cleaning the Carburetor] Here we go! Here’s where the magic happens. Grab your carb cleaner and spray it all over the jets and internal passages. Use a soft brush to scrub off any old dirt or varnish. Don’t forget the float and needle valve—they need some love too! Once it’s all clean, blow everything out with compressed air, making sure no debris is left behind. [Scene 4: Reassembling and Setting Up] Now that it’s cleaned, it’s time to put everything back. Reinstall the jets and float assembly, making sure everything’s secure. Don’t overtighten the screws; just snug them up! Let’s talk settings. For the PX200, start with the following standard settings: Main Jet: 118 (this can vary depending on your specific setup, but 118 is a good starting point). Idle Jet: 50-120 and Choke Jet is 60 . Needle Position: Middle position (this will give you a nice balance of power and fuel efficiency). Air Screw: 1.5 turns out from fully closed. This will get you started, but fine-tune it as you test. [Scene 5: Reinstalling and Testing] In another Video on my Channel :-) Now, we can reinstall the carb back onto the intake manifold, reconnect the fuel line and throttle cable, and fire up the engine. Give it a few revs to make sure everything's running smoothly. If your Vespa runs rough, try adjusting the air screw slightly or tweak the needle position. Every Vespa is a little different, so take your time! [Conclusion] And that’s it! Your Dellorto SI 24/24 carb is cleaned, repaired, and tuned to perfection. With these settings, your Vespa PX200 should run like new again. If you found this guide helpful, don’t forget to like, subscribe, and drop a comment if you have any questions.
