This is video #078 in my playthrough of Final Fantasy IV for the PC. This is episode 38 of the second playthrough. I am playing on Hard mode. Final Fantasy IV [PC] Playlist:    • Final Fantasy IV [PC] Playthrough   Previously, the party finished leveling to Level 99. Now, they will take on the game's superbosses, Proto-Babil and Geryon. Lunar Surface: The party resumes on the Lunar Surface outside the Crystal Palace. Cecil equips the Crystal Helm and passes along his Ribbon to Kain. Kain also equips the Dragon Mail, which I forgot to give him earlier. Oops! Also, Kain and Cecil munch on some Golden Apples, while the others munch on Silver Apples. Rosa and Rydia also have some Soma Drops to boost their MP. Cecil learns the other Darkness augment. The party sets up their abilities for the superboss battles. Kain is going to be the tank. Rosa, obviously, will be the healer. Cecil will be the main damage-dealer with ???'s Love, Limit Break, Focus, and Darkness. Rydia will get to sling some Black Magic, but she will also be utility, as will Edge. Kain and Edge both have Phoenix equipped. The party goes through the Lunar Tunnel - East and the Lunar Tunnel - West. When they get to the Lunar Whale, they take it to the Hummingway Abode. Hummingway Abode (time 4:44): After selling off Wyvern Lances and Dragon Gloves, the party stocks up on Sirens, Phoenix Downs, Dry Ethers, and Elixirs. Then, they head back out. Lunar Surface (time 5:32): The party flies to the north lunar plain. By some mountains far north of the Lunar Tunnel - East, there is a face-shaped boulder on the lunar plain. When they examine it, they need to select the Dark Matter that they stole from Zeromus on an earlier playthrough. This triggers the battle against Proto-Babil! Proto-Babil is absolutely nasty. Light of Babil does 9999 damage to a target that is not defending. Ninth Demension will knock out a target that does not have instant death protection. When attacked, Proto-Babil can also counter with Laser Barrage, which deals a ton of damage to the party. Rosa needs to get Slow on Proto as soon as possible. Kain tanks with Brace to protect the party from Light of Babil. Everyone but Cecil has a Ribbon for instant death resistance; Cecil's Crystal gear already gives him that. Cecil uses Focus three times, activates Darkness, and attacks with ???'s Love. Edge uses Hastemarch to boost the party's speed. Rydia dualcasts Meteor spells. Whenever Phoenix activates, its user needs an Ether as soon as possible. When Proto-Babil's HP runs low, it will use different abilities. It will start using Heal to cure damage by the boatload. It can repeatedly use Divine Judgment to annihilate the party. At this point, Edge uses Hide in case he needs to come back to revive the party. Rydia takes over Hastemarch duty. Cecil pelts Proto-Babil with Darkness-fueled ???'s Love attacks. The party eventually defeats Proto-Babil, and without getting wiped out too many times. The player earns the self-explanatory Steam achievement "Defeated Proto-Babil". Aboard the Lunar Whale, the party rests. Then, they take off for the Blue Planet. Blue Planet Overworld (time 23:18): The party flies to Mount Ordeals in the southeast of the Overworld. Mount Ordeals (time 24:00): The party heads to the Summit, where they save at the save point. They examine the shrine where Cecil became a Paladin. When they choose to face the four fiends' malice, it is boss time against Geryon. Geryon is a fusion of the four fiends. It can use all their moves. Elemental protection will help the party, as will status resistance and instant death protection. As with Proto-Babil, Kain will be tanking with Brace. Rosa, obviously, is the healer after she sticks slow on the boss. Cecil uses Darkness-fueled ???'s Love attacks, while Rydia dualcasts Meteor. Edge speeds up the party with Hastemarch. It does not take as long for the party to prevail against Geryon. For this feat, the player earns the Steam achievement "Defeated Geryon". Afterwards, the party backtracks down Mount Ordeals. Overworld (time 36:17): The party boards the Lunar Whale and rests. At this point, I am wondering why I did not earn the achievement for completing the bestiary. However, I realize now that I targeted Barnabas, not Dr. Lugae, during the Lugae/Barnabas battle. If I do a third playthrough, I will need to take out Dr. Lugae during that battle to get his entry.
