Masked men fired shots into the air to disperse large crowds from the dozens of crates marked with the United Arab Emirates Red Crescent and UAE Aid logos. The clans of northern Gaza say they helped facilitate the delivery. “We will no longer allow for thieves to steal from the convoys for the merchants and force us to buy them for high prices,” said Abu Ahmad al-Gharbawi who was involved with the clans’ plan. He said the goal is for the the aid to reach organizations on the ground to distribute them to families in Gaza. United Nations agencies did not immediately respond to The Associated Press questions about the aid delivery and initiative. Ahmad Nattat was among those in the crowd standing between tents and buildings reduced to rubble, celebrating the arrival of the aid.
