Aralam Wildlife Sanctuary, located in northern Kerala, is one of the most beautiful and biologically rich protected areas in the state. Recently, there have been discussions by the government and forest department to officially rename it as a Butterfly Sanctuary—a move that would make it the first butterfly sanctuary in India. This sanctuary is home to an incredible 266 species of butterflies, making it a paradise for butterfly enthusiasts and researchers alike. One of the most spectacular natural events here takes place every January, when thousands, possibly even millions, of Common Albatross butterflies migrate through the sanctuary. Additionally, Aralam witnesses large congregations of milkweed butterflies, creating a breathtaking visual phenomenon. In this video, I explore the fascinating butterfly migration and congregation events at Aralam and share some interesting facts about this unique and vibrant sanctuary. In this video, I have used images from Wikimedia commons also. Episode 18
