Thursday, August 25th, 2011 Open House and Prelaunch Party of the Herreshoff 20, a never-before built daysailer designed by Captain Nat in 1928 at Historic 18 Burnside Street in Bristol, RI, the site of the Herreshoff Manufacturing Company. Event included photo ops and a sneak peek at an exquisitely fitted boat. Listen to formal comments by Halsey Herreshoff and boat builder Dan Shea. About the H-20: The origins of the Herreshoff 20 lie in the famous 12 1/2. After building 364 of these wonderful boats at the Herreshoff Manufacturing Company, Capt Nat carved a new model. In his notes about the H-20, he wrote "Pleasure sailing keel boat to replace the Buzzard's Bay Boy's boat." But it was never built in his lifetime and sat unnoticed for nearly 80 years. Until now. Dan Shea at Bristol Boat Company, in cooperation with Herreshoff Designs, has spent the last year bringing this classic design to life using the original NGH drawings.
