Sen. Bernie Sanders Visits Vermont's Champlain Islands Health Center

The Champlain Islands Health Center in South Hero is Vermont’s newest community health center. Bernie recently visited the health center, which offers patients medical care, mental health care and, in the near future, dental care on a sliding pay scale. Bernie has long championed Federally Qualified Health Centers – or FQHCs – as a way to increase access to high-quality and affordable health care. FQHCs already provide excellent care to nearly 25 million people across the country. Just this week, Bernie introduced a bill that would double the number of patients they can serve over the next decade. Here in Vermont, roughly one out of four Vermonters get their primary health care at the more than 50 community health center sites in our state.
