In this segment of Leading the 'Break, you'll hear from two NYU upperclass student-athletes, senior Caroline Peper and junior Brook Batchelor, the two leading scorers on the NYU women’s basketball team. Caroline is from.South Easton, Massachusetts and Brooke is from Oakton, Virginia. They each discussed why they decided to attend NYU, as well why they opted to play DIII basketball instead of doing so at a DI school. You'll hear about each one's favorite New York City moment, favorite class, major, and career goals. And by the way, their NYU teams have won the national NCAA DIII championships the last two seasons, in both of which the team’s record was 31-0. As of January 7, 2025, NYU has the longest current basketball winning streak in the nation in all of the men’s and women’s divisions of the NCAA with 73 wins. The streak started at the beginning of the 2023-24 season. They are tied with Ashland University for the fourth longest all-time NCAA winning streak in women’s basketball. Both Peper and Batchelor have been on the team during the winning streak. We discussed how, if at all, their success on the court has changed them. And we discussed the NYU style of play. Relentless movement on the court, and a pressing and denial defense. A team that’s in excellent condition and has a deep bench. Finally, I asked them if they were mentally and strategically prepared for a close game as their games this season have typically been won by very wide margins. @newyorkuniversity @MeetNYU @NYUAthletics
