Six months of collecting, breaking down, and sorting steel — all while chasing a bit of gold along the way. This episode is all about component stacking, my favourite part of the process. You’ve seen me rip things apart and melt them down, but this is what goes on off-camera. According to my calculations, we’re sitting on: 1.2 tons of shearings @ 17p/kg 250kg of discs @ 21p/kg Stick around till the end to see how close we got! It’s dark by 17:20h here in England — winter’s coming fast, and the heater’s out again. While sealing up the drafts, I even found more steel I forgot about behind a door. Since it’s Hallows Eve, I’m sand-casting a human skull in Petrobond. Once it’s full, it’s melt time. Two ingots coming up — “Quick, run, get to the chopper!” Last week’s levelling feet for the anvil are paying off — no more slanty ingots! This might just be my best casting to date. Totals: 75kg of discs @ £15.75 Shearings @ £38.25 Keeping 250kg @ £42.50 Found a few more motors and single cables too.
