In a race against time for a sudden pickup, a young woman finds herself in the midst of impending doom. (This is is a short film written, directed, edited and produced by Lex Lumpkin) TRAFFICKING HOTLINE: 888-373-7888 Director’s Statement: Trafficking has been a subject that has terrified me for the entirety of my life. I’ve heard stories of families who’ve never seen their loved ones again, and I’ve seen many cases go unsolved. Everytime I get an amber alert on my phone, my heart goes out to the families involved. This film is not only a way for me to bring awareness to the subject, but it’s a medium for me to present the topic through the lens of my soul. The first inkling of the film came to me in the form of a shot sequence in October, 2022. It was the climax where London is on her own outside at the end. Seeing that truck parked next to her car in the middle of a desolate parking lot that was once full and bustling with life; along with her being cut off at every point of escape, is horrifying to me. I remember my heart sinking and eyes welling up, just imagining the situation itself. From the very top, you will notice that London stands out wherever she is on screen. I made it a point to dim the saturation of the background, further isolating London from her surroundings. She is a beacon of light in a world of evil intentions. The list in the hands of the Clerk was also an important point of interest. Every name on that list is a person in real life who has gone missing in California, with the exception to London Paige (The character in the film).
