Vivaldi clearly loved this theme—he returned to it for a whole new concerto later in his Opus 8: RV 362 (you’ll hear it on our Opus 8, Volume 2 disc later this year!). His text for this movement reads: At first light, hunter is off to the hunt with horns, guns and dogs the wild beast flees and they follow the trail. Already tired and frightened by the noise of the guns and dogs, wounded, it tries weakly to flee, but overcome, it dies. No cosy knits or pumpkin spice here—this is autumn.
