Embassy of Lithuania in Washington, D.C. invites you to watch the virtual presentation of the photography series “Soon to Be Gone” by Tadas Kazakevičius, documentary photographer based in Vilnius, Lithuania. In his Soon to Be Gone photography series, Tadas Kazakevičius draws inspiration from American photographers who documented rural America during the Great Depression era, such as Dorothea Lange and Walker Evans. They also used their photography to attempt to capture the times and things that were destined to soon come to an end. With a similar aim, photograper takes a nostalgic look at his homeland’s countryside. With his extensive series “Soon to be Gone”, Tadas became the finalist in numerous awards like Leica Oskar Barnack, LensCulture Exposure and ZEISS awards and the series were presented in many exhibitions including this years prestigious Jimei x Arles 2020 exhibition in China. Also, Tadas is currently preparing his solo exhibition in Lithuanian National Museum in Vilnius, Lithuania. During this event for the first time the author presented his newly published “Soon To Be Gone” album. This event was moderated by Emilia Mickevicius, PhD, historian of photography and curatorial assistant at San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA)
