In fulfillment of my McGill University masters degree, I had to write a little book related to jazz pedagogy for a course with great Montreal trumpeter Kevin Dean. I chose to do it on chord voicings, and will make it available to those who are interested. This video is still 17 minutes long, but was essentially the tip of the iceberg, as was the book. For lessons, booking, or other inquiries, email me at hodysport@gmail.com Thanks for watching! ADDENDUM; February 2020. The little piece I'd written that informs this video made its way, more or less, into my Doctoral Essay for the Frost School of Music in Miami. I've been emailing that link out to anyone interested, so to save you an email here it is: https://scholarlyrepository.miami.edu... Thanks!! Sam Dickinson was born in Toronto. He began piano when he was 5, then switched to guitar at the age of 8. He was in the Humber College Community Music program for 6 years beginning in 2004. Sam has played at venues all over Eastern and Western Canada as well as in Manhattan, Boston, Washington DC, across South Florida, Louisville, around the Burgundy area of France, and in Atina Italy. He has studied with musicians like Mick Goodrick, Ben Monder, Brad Shepik, Joe Morris, Ted Quinlan, Lorne Lofsky, David Occipinti, Geoff Young, and Emile D'eon. Sam is mainly a jazz player, but loves to play rock, Brazilian music, and other styles, as well as incorporating them into his jazz playing.
