I am in deep gratitude that the Jean-Michel Basquiat: King Pleasure made its way to Los Angeles and that I was able to see it while it was here. I first heard of the King Pleasure exhibition when it made its debut in New York City. I hoped even then that Los Angeles would be its next stop and was elated to later learn it would be in LA in 2023! This beautifully curated exhibition was cultivated and organized by Jean--Michel Basquiat's estate/family and even featured numerous items and works by the legendary artist that the public had never seen before. The day I saw this exhibition, it was December 22nd which is Basquiat's birthday! At this same exhibition, my man and I made it official as boyfriend and girlfriend. And while our relationship has grown and evolved into new titles since then, it is so precious to us that this powerful exhibition is part of our love story. Don't be shy!
