The festival is held at the historic Cove Creek School in Sugar Grove, NC, and has been a significant part of the local culture since its inception in 1998. The festival not only celebrates Doc's musical talent but also raises funds for local families and organizations, as well as for the restoration of the Historic Cove Creek School, which is now on the National Register of Historic Places.
