Endoscopic ultrasound is a new modality. People know about endoscopy, colonoscopy and capsule endoscopy. Now the new thing is we do ultrasound with endoscopy itself. This is a called as Endoscopic ultrasound. But Endoscopic ultrasound we detect what the routine ultrasound or CT scan or an MRI cannot detect, Endoscopic ultrasound is basically done for pancreas problems. If there is a small tumour in the pancreas, then belter than an endoscopy, colonoscopy, and Endoscopic ultrasound is done. Second indication is when there is stone in the bile duct. Instead of MRCP Endoscopic ultrasound is done so that if there is a stone, then same moment we can also remove the stone by ERCP. Their indication sis that when here are small tumors around the esophagus or in the lungs, then also Endoscopic ultrasound can be done and we can take biopsies with this. Endoscopic ultrasound is done for pancreas, bile stone detection and if there are any tumours around the esophagus or in the lungs, and without an operation, through endoscopy itself we can take biopsy. Another indication is when there is a pancreas water collection, what we callas pseudocyst, then Endoscopic ultrasound can be done and we completely avoid surgery like laparoscopy or an open surgery, what we call as this water collection or a pseudocyst.
