It’s February 10, 1977, in Los Angeles, California. Los Angeles mafia hitman Frank Bompensiero is standing at a payphone booth in San Diego. He’d been having issues recently with his mob leadership, namely with his boss Dominic Brooklier. For years a tension had existed between the two gangsters, and Brooklier suspected that Bompensiero had flipped to the feds. Little did they know, he’d been an informant for ever a decade by that point. Only a week prior, Bompensiero had worked with the government to form a fake California porno business named Forex, leading to Montreal mobster Michael Rizzitello getting 2 to 3 years in prison. As Bompensiero uses the phone, he has no idea that sitting in a car across the street are Thomas Ricciardi and Jack LoCicero, hitmen watching his every move. He hangs up the call, exits the booth, and begins walking to his house. Ricciardi then steps out of his car and approaches Bompensiero, gun drawn.
