June the 13th 1995. 25 years ago to the day, Fear Factory released their second album Demanufacture. This is the album that made me who I am today. It's such an iconic album, and sound, that bands still try to copy and achieve that same quality today. It's scary it's now 25 years young. Yes, I'm certain it was the Mortal Kombat Soundtrack that got me obsessed with all things metals. But hearing Fear Factory's Zero Signal, as Johnny Cage fights Scorpion, my pre-pubescent body couldn't handle it. I couldn't get enough of this band. Or Mortal Kombat. Zero Signal was the only taste of Fear Factory available to me (pre-internet) until I found out my step brother had the CD years later. (Just before Obsolete dropped) The absolute onslaught of barraging riffs, and machine gun drums were never really herd like this before. I always remember hearing that everyone thought the drums were fake, and no human could ever play these insane beats. Cut to years later, when I decided playing bass guitar was boring, so I switched to drums. Fear Factory was basically one of the first things I ever learn't to play. Demanufacture, Obsolete, and Digimortal front to back. Yeah... I can't play this sh!t anymore, Iv'e lost most of my speed and blasting techs from not playing enough, and getting old. I probably should of stuck to playing Replica, lol. I was getting cramps, and playing that triplet riff for like 3 freakin hours straight. I challenge anyone to play this song front to back after smashing those triplets for hours, and failing. (Raymond you beast) But long live Fear Factory. Love all the guys Raymond Herrera, Dino Cazares, Burton C. Bell, Christian Olde Wolbers, thank you guys for so many awesome memories and tunes. So yeah... I f@*Ken love Demanufacture, and everything about it. So many great hits. It's still probably my favourite FF record to date?
