** There is a slight mismatch between the sound and the video, I’m sorry if this is distracting. I’m not a video editor and I wanted to get this out for my class as soon as possible Hi all, In this video I’ll be going over some general tips for starting your intro physics class. This video was made for the class I’m co-teaching, P201 at Indiana University. This is an introductory algebra-based mechanics course, but the tips in the video will be helpful for almost any intro physics course. 1. Math concepts you need to know functions and expressions algebra rules - PEMDAS exponent rules Trig: SOH CAH TOA and Pythagorean theorem reading a graph 2. Know how to use your calculator evaluating trig functions proper use of parentheses powers of ten short cut scientific notation angle unit conversion (degrees to radians and vice versa) 3. Bookkeeping Write out whatever you need to help keep track of what values go to what object, time interval, physical quantity, etc... Try and set up a system of how you write out your problems so that you can understand and follow your own work. Next video is the GUESS method
