Islamabad Streets Empty after Supporters of Imran Khan Call off Protest | Islam Channel

On Wednesday morning, Islamabad residents found the streets empty but filled with damaged vehicles after a midnight raid by Pakistan’s security forces. This raid led to the arrest of hundreds of supporters of the jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan. Local people felt relieved as workers cleaned up the broken glass and debris. The protest seemed to have ended, with many protesters going back to their homes. Geo News reported that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party announced a temporary halt to the protest. During the protest, at least six people, including four paramilitary soldiers and two protesters, were killed. Earlier, thousands of protesters had gathered in central Islamabad. A convoy led by Khan’s wife managed to break through several security barriers and reached the edge of the city’s highly secure red zone, which includes important government buildings and foreign embassies.
