Rescue Operations: The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) are actively conducting rescue operations in affected areas like Mandla, where villages are isolated, and roads are submerged. Relief camps have been set up. Alerts and Closures: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued orange and yellow alerts for heavy to very heavy rainfall in 28 districts, including Bhopal, Indore, and Jabalpur, with up to 8 inches of rain forecast. Schools in Mandla and Dindori are closed. Narmada River Impact: The Narmada River’s rising water levels, exacerbated by heavy rains in upstream districts like Mandla and Dindori, have led to the opening of nine gates of the Bargi Dam in Jabalpur. Flood alerts have been issued for low-lying areas, including Jabalpur’s riverside regions. Specific Incidents: In Mandla, a car was swept away on the Chikhali Ponia road, though the driver escaped.
