3GPP explains the non-standalone 5G NR standards

Late December 2017 marked an historical achievement in the cellular standards group, 3GPP. It released the long-awaited non-standalone (NSA) 5G radio specifications. This first drop of Release 15 means that a mobile operator can use an LTE anchor with a 5G NR cell, performing control plane communications through LTE and using 5G NR to boost user data capacity.
