Hello, neighbors. It's Brad here at etrailer. And today we're taking a look and installing the Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver on a 2022 Volvo XC40. Now this is what the hitch is gonna look like installed and the first thing you may or may not notice is the fact that it is a hidden cross tube which gives you a nice really clean look on that Volvo because the main portion of the hitch is going to be bolted behind the bumper bean support leaving the only thing that's visible is the actual two inch by two inch receiver. Now your two inch receiver is going to be the standard as far as a lot of your ball mounts or any accessory whether it be your cargo carriers or bike racks. So it's really gonna open up options as to what you can use. And when putting those accessories in place you're gonna be using a 5/8 pin and clip and this does not come with the hitch, so you are gonna have to pick one of these up in order for your accessories to stay in place, a lot of them will come with that pin and clip. You can also pick up a locking one that's available here at etrailer and that's gonna be really nice 'cause when you put your accessories in place, you could lock that up and know that they're gonna stay on the vehicle. Now you'll also see there's a rolled style safety chain loop here. So when pulling a trailer you'll be able to hook up to your safety cables nice and easy, even larger cleva style hooks are gonna be really easy to latch on there. Now in choosing a ball mount or any of your accessories you're gonna wanna see how it kind of fits on the mobile. So from the center of the hitch pin hole to the furthest point on the rear fascia we're looking at about four inches. So it's actually nice and recessed to where it's not sticking out too much, but it's also not too tucked back to where this should work with a lot of different accessories. And especially in that folding position, it shouldn't make contact with the rear fascia, but it is something to kind of consider when choosing your accessories. Something else you're gonna want to consider is the ground clearance. So from the top, the receiver tube opening to the ground we're looking at 15 inches, which is plenty. Don't ever worry about this hitting the ground but as you have your bike racks or cargo carriers or anything else set up on this, you're gonna wanna make sure when you go on an incline that you're not getting those to bottom out. So just kind of keep that in mind when choosing your accessories for that clearance, but also while you're driving on inclines or rough terrain you're gonna wanna make sure you don't have those bottom out. So just keep that in mind when driving. And also that's gonna be important if you are choosing a ball mount what height your coupler trailer is, you can kind of match that up with your ball mount. Now if you are planning on towing a trailer with this it has some decent numbers at a gross trailer weight rating of 4,000 pounds. It's gonna be the weight of the trailer plus the accessories loaded up on that. And you also have a tongue weight rating of 600 pounds, which is gonna be the downward pressure that's put on the inside of that receiver tube opening. So that's mostly gonna be some of your suspended accessories as they're kind of, you know, hanging off of there. But with 600 pounds, I really don't worry too much about over exceeding that with any of your cargo carriers or bike racks. Now before you hook up to a trailer and try to tow that 4,000 pounds, you're gonna want to check the vehicle's owner's manual to see what that is capable of. Compare those two numbers, take the lower of those two that way you stay safe. Now as far as the installation of this hitch, surprisingly, not too bad. I'm gonna tell you you do have to pull the rear fascia off which might seem a little bit daunting, but overall this is actually fairly easy to do, and you definitely could do this in your garage or driveway. There's not a whole lot that you'll have to do as far as getting under the vehicle. You are gonna wanna pick up some black silicone. It's just gonna create a nice little seal that goes onto this, and overall you should be able to knock this out in about 45 minutes or so. So let's take a look at that installation now. Now again our installation, we're gonna be removing some torx bit here on the wheel well liner. And the reason being is we are gonna be pulling the rear fascia off and that way we can get our
