Healthy No Oil Kala Chana Soup & Chaat Prep time: 5 minutes (excluding soaking time) & 10-15 minutes for the chaat Cooking time: 15-20 minutes Serves: 5-6 people Ingredients: For Soup BLACK CHICKPEAS | काले चने 1 CUPS (SOAKED OVERNIGHT) GREEN CHILLI | हरी मिर्च 3 NOS. GINGER | अदरक 1 INCH GARLIC | लहसुन 12-15 CLOVES WATER | पानी AS REQUIRED (for paste) TOMATO | टमाटर 1 NO. SALT | नमक TO TASTE TURMERIC POWDER | हल्दी पाउडर 1/2 TSP CORIANDER POWDER | धनिया पाउडर 1 TSP GARAM MASALA | गरम मसाला 1/2 TSP KASHMIRI RED CHILLI POWDER | कश्मीरी लाल मिर्च पाउडर 1 TBSP CUMIN SEEDS | जीरा 1/2 TSP BLACK PEPPER POWDER | काली मिर्च पाउडर 1/4 TSP CUMIN POWDER | जीरा पाउडर 1/2 TSP BLACK SALT | काला नमक 1 TSP DRY MANGO POWDER | आमचूर पाउडर 1 TSP WATER | पानी AS REQUIRED LEMON JUICE | नींबू का रस OF A LEMON FRESH CORIANDER | हरा धनिया A HANDFUL (CHOPPED) MINT LEAVES | पुदीना A HANDFUL (CHOPPED) Method: Wash & soak the chickpeas overnight or you also get soaked chickpeas in the market, you need 2 cups of soaked chickpeas for this recipe. Add the ginger, garlic & green chilli in a small mixer jar along with some water & blend it into a fine paste. Now in a pressure add the soaked chickpeas after discarding the water, roughly cut the tomato into quarters & then add salt along with all the powdered spices followed by water, add about 3 litres of water & stir well. Next, put the lid on & pressure cook the chickpeas over medium high flame for 4-5 whistles then switch off the flame & let it depressurize naturally. Then check the whistle for any excess pressure & open the lid stir well. Check if the chickpeas are cooked by pressing one between your fingers. At this stage, stir well, switch on the flame to high and bring the soup to a simmer. Taste & adjust seasoning if required. Lastly add some chopped fresh coriander & mint. Your delicious, no oil healthy chana soup is ready, serve it hot, you can add boiled chickepeas as per your preference and optionally you can add a small cube of butter and some chaat masala. Chaat assembly: BOILED CHICKPEAS | उबले हुए काले चने AS REQUIRED BOILED POTATO | उबले हुए आलू (DICED) TOMATO | टमाटर (CHOPPED) ONION | प्याज़ (CHOPPED) APPLE | सेब (DICED) PINEAPPLE | पाइनएप्पल (DICED) GRAPES | ग्रेप्स (DICED) POMEGRANATE | अनार GINGER (CHOPPED) GREEN CHILLI | हरी मिर्च (CHOPPED) CHAAT MASALA | चाट मसाला BLACK SALT | काला नमक LEMON JUICE | नींबू का रस SWEET TAMARIND CHUTNEY | गुड़ और इमली की चटनी FRESH CORIANDER | हरा धनिया MINT | पुदीना Method: To make the chat, simply strain the boiled chickpeas as required & add all the ingredients of the assembly as per your taste, you can skip the fruits that you don't like and add your preferred ones.
