Making a chess board with a box for chess pieces | Bolivian Rosewood, Bird's Eye Maple, and Walnut

Watch how I make a chess board and a box with drawers to hold chess pieces. The chess board has 60mm squares made from Bolivian rosewood and highly figured bird's eye maple. It has a 3" (76 mm) frame made from American black walnut with a curly maple edge band. It also has a 1/8" (3 mm) brass border around the playing field on both sides of the board, One side of the board has the client's initials "AW" in gold leaf and a quotation that is filled with black epoxy. The quotation "Ich bedauere jeden, der das Schachspiel nicht kennt. Bringt es schon dem Lernenden Freude, so führt es den Kenner zu hohem Genuß." is attributed to Leo Tolstoy. In English, the quotation translates to "I pity anyone who doesn't know the game of chess. While it brings joy to the learner, it brings great pleasure to the connoisseur." The other side has algebraic notation inlaid with ash on all four sides, as well as my signature and the date on one of the sides.'' The box under the chess board is approximately 3.5" (89 mm) heigh and it has two drawers. The drawers are made from walnut and ash and they have exposed box joints where the contrasting wood types form 8 squares in each corner of the drawer. Each drawer has compartments to hold a set of chess pieces, including extra queens, and also a set of checkers that I made with the client's initials engraved with a laser.
