In our new channel no stigma! we highlight a mental illness every two weeks. YouTube no stigma!: https://www.youtube.com/@no-stigma/vi... -- She counts the days on which she manages not to drink alcohol. And also the days on which she resists the urge to hurt herself. It is important to Linda to talk about her illness. The 27-year-old wants people to know more about the personality disorder that has dominated her everyday life for years. She hopes that this will help her to break down the prejudices that she and other sufferers are constantly confronted with. "We are always accused of being toxic and manipulative," she says. But that is not how she sees herself. And above all, Linda does not want to be simply pigeonholed - after all, life is already stressful enough for her. Her thoughts start to circle in the morning. "I don't want to be there, I want to punish myself, I want to belittle myself," she describes how she feels. Every noise is too much. She wanders around her apartment, trying to relieve the tension, trying really hard. But it's no use. "I often suddenly feel an irrational fear of loss. When I interact with others, I overreact - and then feel like I've messed up again." In such moments, her pressure to self-harm increases. When she receives a loving message from someone close to her, she feels better for a moment. "But if they don't reply right away, I immediately start worrying that I've done something wrong." That's Linda's everyday life. Even at the age of 14 or 15, she had the feeling that she was different from others. But she didn't have a name for it. "When I was diagnosed three years ago, I was totally relieved," says Lina. "I finally didn't feel like I was crazy anymore. My symptoms had a name." She doesn't know what triggered her disorder. It's often traumatic events. "I have dissociative amnesia, which means I have simply forgotten parts of my life." --- #panicking #mentalhealth #psychology #borderline --- You can find more information on the subject of borderline here: https://www.apotheken-umschau.de/kran... https://www.apotheken-umschau.de/vide... --- The most important sources: Source Definition Borderline personality disorder: https://www.msdmanuals.com/de/profi/p..., accessed on November 15, 2024.
