A Kawasaki R211A (A) train, 4389-4385/4235-4239, arrives and departs 80th Street-Hudson Street, on its way to Lefferts Boulevard. The next two stops on this train would be 88th Street and Rockaway Boulevard. Once it reached Rockaway Boulevard, it would diverge from the (A) train's other branch which usually heads towards the Rockaways. 4385-4389 was part of the 33rd R211A consist to enter service, which did so on 12/23/24. Meanwhile, 4235-4239 was part of a consist which spent some time at Jamaica in early 2024, conducting CBTC testing. R211As 3400-3414, 4060-4444, and 4450-4499 are all on property as of 3/27/25. 5 Base Order cars remain to be delivered, those being 4445-4449. The R46s are now beginning to be impacted by this delivery, as 42 R211As are now in service on the (A/C), surpassing the 11-13 consists needed to retroactively replace the R32s. Many R46 consists from Pitkin have already been shifted to Coney Island, a wise decision on the MTA's part, while many R46s have been retired. Some R46s have been severed from the mainline, to provide Rockaway Park (H) line service while the Rockaway Flats receive repairs. 440 R211A cars are expected out of the Base Order in total, along with 20 R211Ts (delivered) and 75 R211Ss (in the process of delivery). Additionally, 640 Option I R211As, and 435 Option II R211s (355 R211As/80 R211Ts) are expected to arrive afterward, with the first Option Order cars beginning to arrive on MTA property. The Base Order and some of the First Option will be heading to the (A) and (C) lines. 3400-3404 is already in service on the (A) as of 3/27/25. Therefore, the R46s on the (A) and (C) will be going extinct first. Catch them while you still can! Taken on 3/21/2025. Please subscribe and stay blessed!
