Sailing has a reputation for being expensive — elitist, out of reach, and reserved for people with deep pockets. But that reputation isn’t coming from real sailors. In this video, I break down one of the biggest myths in boating: that sailing is only for the wealthy. I’m not saying sailing is free. I am saying that the idea you need to be rich to sail is one of the most effective lies the boating industry ever sold. I’ve owned around 20 boats over the years, including boats that cost less than a used jet ski — and some that cost nothing at all.
