Planting a SOFT LANDING Under Our Tree Circles — Ep. 181

Instead of having trees strictly with mulched circles, we're starting to plant what are known as "soft landings," which are native, herbaceous plantings underneath key trees to provide a safe place for insects, such as moths, caterpillars, beetles, and other insects to pupate below when they drop from the trees. This increases insect diversity and can therefore increase bird populations as well. Plus, planting strategically under trees will eliminate other unwanted weeds or deep-rooted grasses from moving in.
