Snowboarding At Hidden Valley, St. Louis Missouri February 2021, West Mountain - Boot Smoke

After being hit with a Polar Freeze in February, West Mountain, at Hidden Valley ski resort in St. Louis, Missouri was finally able to open after being closed during the first six weeks of the season. During this frigid week, Randy and I (Canaan), rode on on a glorious Wednesday afternoon, following a snowstorm that graced us with 9 inches of fluffy, cold, airy, light powder that coated areas at the resort that are otherwise unrideable. As we hit the runs we decided to explore the trees and found an area of untouched powder off of the West Mountain run: Cold Rush. This area of tightly bunched old and new growth trees, glades of tall grasses, downed branches, and boulders added an incredible feeling of spectacular freedom and a sense of gratitude to be able to experience such a special moment of unusual snow, found usually in the Mountains of the coldest alpine environments; right here in STL 😃🙏. This run was named Boot Smoke from the visions of wisps of powder flying off of our boots, to the insane steam cascading from our boots after this Awesome day!
