Immaculate Conception Church, Xavier University

Built in 1954 through the efforts of the students and the Jesuits, the then Immaculate Conception Chapel which is now a church has served the Xavier University - Ateneo de Cagayan faculty, staff, students and the Cagayan de Oro community as it holds masses, sacraments like the First Communion, Confirmation and the Graduation thanksgiving mass to students. Featured in this video are the stained glass windows added during the time when Fr. Antonio Samson, SJ was the President of the university. These are designed by former student Ryan Carreon Aragon, the same artist who presented a painting to Pope Francis as the Philippines celebrates 500 years of Christianity. Pictures of major events held in this church have been included like the conferring of the honoris causa to Cardinal Tagle in 2013, the XU Service Awards, the pinning ceremony of English majors and the blessing of the crucifix and shrine at the back of the church by the Superior General of the Jesuits, Fr. Arturo Sosa, SJ on December 13, 2018. As the main campus moves uptown, this church will surely be missed by the employees and alumni.
