This Isn’t Arizona… It’s Georgia’s Little Grand Canyon

We hiked Providence Canyon State Park in Georgia, also known as Georgia’s “Little Grand Canyon”, and it didn’t feel like the Southeast at all! The red clay canyon walls look more like Arizona than Georgia. We start this adventure with a quick flashback to our hike at Ravine Gardens State Park in Florida. That day got us thinking about how much hidden terrain the Southeast really has… and Providence Canyon had been on our list for a while. When we arrive, we show you the park map and walk through the route we chose. We headed down to the creek bed, explored canyons 1 through 9 along the canyon floor, and then climbed back up the opposite side to finish the loop. It wasn’t crowded at all, the weather was absolutely perfect, and the hike itself wasn’t overly challenging, which made it the perfect kind of movement after our recent ultras.
