Today, I will be taking you on a narrated walking tour of one of Prescott’s most iconic spots, Whiskey Row. Whiskey Row has a rich history dating back to the late 1800s and is located in Downtown Prescott, Arizona. It has a charming blend of history and natural beauty. It features the iconic Courthouse Plaza, surrounded by historic buildings. The actual location of Whiskey Row is along South Montezuma Street. The historic district stretches between Goodwin Street to the north and Gurley Street to the south. These streets were once bustling with saloons, gambling halls, catering to miners, cowboys and the colorful characters of the Wild West. It’s a place where history comes alive. Back in the day they named the street Whiskey Row due to the numerous saloons clustered in one location. First Starting at the corner of West Gurley Street and North Montezuma Street we start heading east. We will be walking all the way around the block of the Yavapai County Courthouse and the Courthouse Plaza. List of some of the famous and historic buildings and places of Whiskey Row and neighborhood. • The Palace Restaurant and Saloon. 120 S Montezuma St • The Grand Highland Hotel. 130 S Montezuma St • The Vulture Mine Saloon. 122 S Montezuma St • The 100 Block of S Montezuma. This stretch of buildings on the 100 block of South Montezuma Street is known for its well-preserved 19th-century architecture.
