#tpvirtual #testing #endurance Hi everyone! 11:29 - Actual ramp start 22:11 - Last half minute of the ramp I just completed my first FTP test in TrainingPeaks Virtual, and it’s actually my first FTP test in a while. I wanted a solid, measured FTP before the autumn training block kicks off in the Northern Hemisphere, and I also wanted to give the built‑in Ramp test a try. There are several protocols for measuring FTP, each with its own pros and cons. For me, the Ramp test is the one that feels most doable. My thoughts on the built‑in Ramp test: • Warm‑up: The 10‑minute warm‑up doesn’t include any “pre‑emptive” work to flush out anaerobic metabolites. I’m not sure if that matters, but it’s worth noting for anyone used to a warm‑up that does. • Power increments: The description says the test increases by 25 W per minute, but it doesn’t jump 25 W every 60 seconds. Instead, the resistance ramps up gradually throughout the minute, resulting in smoother, smaller steps. • Live FTP estimate: The test shows an estimated FTP throughout the effort. Personally, that bugs me—I prefer to stay blind to the number until the end and then see the result. But that’s just my preference. • Result syncing: Once you finish, the calculated FTP is applied within TP Virtual, but it doesn’t automatically sync back to TrainingPeaks. You’ll need to copy it over manually if you want it stored in your main account. Overall, the Ramp test works fine for me, and I’m happy with the numbers I got. If you’re thinking about trying it, give it a go and see how it fits your workflow!
