No Yard Too Small: Missouri Native Trees and Shrubs for Your Urban Landscape Presented by Billy Haag – Forest ReLeaf Not all urban lots have room for a large canopy tree—but that doesn’t mean trees and shrubs are off the table. In this presentation, Billy Haag explores a diverse selection of Missouri native trees and shrubs that are well suited for urban landscapes, small yards, and tight spaces. Learn how to thoughtfully expand your planting palette while supporting wildlife, increasing canopy cover, and strengthening local ecosystems. About the Presenter: Billy Haag is the Forestry Manager and a Certified Arborist with Forest ReLeaf. Since joining the organization in 2022, he has managed tree planting and care efforts, led tree trainings for community members and municipal staff, and overseen statewide programs such as the Callery pear buyback and tree delivery initiatives. Billy’s background includes work in a wide range of park settings—including Kings Canyon National Park, Don Robinson State Park, and Forest Park Forever—experiences that have shaped his passion for native ecosystems, urban forestry, and connecting people to green spaces.
