🗓️ Winter Snow Solo Camping in Japan – January 13–14, 2026 ❄️🏕️🌨️ This week, I decided to try something new. I went snow camping, alone, deep in winter conditions. The road to the campsite was completely icy, and heavy snow was already falling. I was the only one there. The forecast announced almost -10°C during the night, and I hoped it wouldn’t be too cold. To carry all my gear, I used a sled. I brought my large tent to be able to heat the inside properly. This tent is a big dome — 4 meters in diameter and 2.3 meters high — so I needed a wide, open space. Inside, I planned to set up a wood stove to stay warm. 🌪️ Snowstorm & Waiting It Out Because the wind was strong, I secured the tent carefully. Suddenly, the weather turned into a real snowstorm. The wind kept getting stronger, but I continued bringing my equipment. At some point, part of the tent was blown away. I had no choice but to stop and wait. I secured everything and waited about two hours for the storm to pass. 🔥 Setting Up the Wood Stove When the storm finally ended, it was already night. I finished setting up everything inside the tent and started installing the wood stove. I was a bit worried about the chimney and hoped the wind wouldn’t damage it. After having issues with a flexible chimney in the past, I switched to a rigid titanium chimney. The stove setup went pretty quickly. 🍽️ Dinner – Steak, Vegetables & Tomato Sauce For dinner, I cooked a simple meal: ground steak with vegetables and tomato sauce. I started by cutting the vegetables, added a bit of oil to the pot, and grilled the meat. Once everything was nicely cooked, I added the sauce and vegetables. The smell was incredible. I ate directly from the pot to keep everything hot. Inside the tent, the temperature reached 17°C. ☕ After Dinner – Coffee Time To finish the meal, I made a quick drip coffee. It was already late. I boiled water on the wood stove, ground some coffee, and brewed it. The aroma was amazing. To go with it, I enjoyed a small financier. 🥃 Evening Atmosphere To end the evening on a good note, I had a whisky. Outside, it was -10°C. ☀️ Morning – Coffee & Omelet I didn’t sleep very well. The wind blew all night, and I was worried the chimney might fly away. But in the morning, the weather was beautiful and sunny. I had breakfast outside, making a coffee with my Origami coffee set. At the same time, I cooked some bacon and prepared a simple omelet. It was easy to make and tasted great. It was freezing, but it felt so good to be there. 🏕️ Packing Up After breakfast, it was time to pack everything up. It took quite a while, but luckily the weather was perfect. It wasn’t easy, but it was an amazing experience — and it definitely made me want to do it again. 📹 In this video, you’ll see: ❄️ Winter solo camping in deep snow 🏕️ Large dome tent setup in harsh conditions 🔥 Wood stove & rigid titanium chimney setup 🌪️ Heavy snowstorm and strong wind atmosphere 🍽️ Winter camp cooking inside a heated tent ☕ Drip coffee & Origami coffee moments 🥃 Cozy winter evening with whisky ☀️ Sunny winter morning after the storm 📍 Location: Nakayamakogen Camping Ground (中山高原キャンプ場) https://miasa-camp.com/ 📌 Subscribe for more relaxing solo camping, winter adventures, outdoor cooking, coffee moments, and quiet nature escapes across Japan / @darllon.richard 【Chapters】 0:00 Introduction 0:34 Arrival and Setting Up Camp 6:12 Snowstorm 6:49 Setting Up Inside the Tent 8:15 Setting Up the Wood Stove 13:06 Cooking Dinner: Ground Steak with Vegetables and Tomato Sauce 15:41 Coffee Time 17:42 Wood Stove and Whisky Time 18:56 Morning Coffee and Omelet 23:07 Packing Up #solocamping #wintercamping #japancamping #snowstorm #coldcamping #minus10degrees #outdoorjapan #campcooking #outdoorcoffee #vanlifejapan #dronevideo
