This was a real challenge. When I realized my channel would soon hit 100K subscribers, I was overwhelmed with strong emotions. I posted my first video almost ten years ago. Back then, I had a good guitar, audio and video equipment, and found a "vocals only" track of "Alive" by Pearl Jam online—way before AI vocal isolation existed. Google was automatically giving everyone a YouTube channel at the time. As a grown-up '90s alternative grunge guitarist, "Alive" was always the campfire challenge for us. We'd always hear, "Play 'Alive'!" So I thought, if I could sync the vocals-only track with the original, record myself playing an acoustic version, then mute the original track and mix in my acoustic with the vocal track—and it sounded decent—I would have mastered it. The real challenge was to make a one-take video of it. When I released it, I didn’t intend for it to turn into a regular channel. It was just a personal challenge as a musician. But the video gained some traction, and one comment struck me: "Really helpful camera view and vocal track addition. Thanks!" That’s when I thought, why not make videos showing my guitar playing, adding chord charts/tabs on the screen, and using the original vocal-only track if available? The second video, my first with chord charts, was "Under Pressure" by Queen and David Bowie. The video quality was terrible, but it’s still one of the most watched on my channel. Queen has always been a cornerstone of this channel, and I've often gotten comments like, "C’mon! Do 'Bohemian Rhapsody'!" I always refused because it’s too big, too complicated. "Bohemian Rhapsody" is one of the greatest and most complex songs ever. Then I thought, "I’m going on vacation with my family and will have some free time. Why not celebrate 100K subs with a 'Bohemian Rhapsody' video and practice it on holiday?" And here I am. My family will probably remember these days with the song stuck in their heads. Please keep in mind, this is just my take with my abilities. Especially the "opera part," which can be played—or not played—in so many ways.
