No Kings protests were held in Charlotte, Atlanta, S.C., and across the U.S. across the U.S. on Oct. 18, 2025. Here is part 2 of WCNC's coverage. Protesters across the country are gathering for a new wave of No Kings demonstrations on October 18, 2025, part of a nationwide movement challenging President Donald Trump’s policies. This latest action includes more than 2,500 events in cities large and small— in N.C., at the National Mall, and in communities across the nation. Organizers and supporters of the No Kings movement call President Trump’s recent actions increasingly authoritarian, expressing concern over moves to expand executive power, federal deployment in cities and policies affecting education, immigration, and environmental protections. Protesters say their goal is to defend democratic institutions and civil rights, pointing to a commitment to peaceful, non-violent action. Officials estimate millions may participate, and law enforcement nationwide is preparing for large but peaceful crowds. Critics of the protests, including congressional Republicans, have called them divisive, but organizers maintain their focus is on defending American democracy and encouraging civic engagement.
