Join me on a day trip to see the Belogradchik Rocks and Fortress 😍🚗🇧🇬 Towering above the small town of Belogradchik are the incredible Belogradchik Rocks, one of the most unique natural landscapes in Eastern Europe. These massive sandstone formations, some reaching over 200 meters high, were shaped by millions of years of erosion and have inspired countless legends about figures, animals, and mythological characters hidden in the stone. Built directly into these natural rock walls is the historic Belogradchik Fortress, a defensive stronghold first fortified during the Roman era and later expanded by Bulgarian and Ottoman rulers. During our visit, my friend and I also took part in a Bulgarian tradition known as Martenitsa. Normally exchanged on Baba Marta Day (March 1st), these red-and-white bracelets symbolize health, luck, and the coming of spring. People usually wear them until they see the first signs of spring and then tie them to tree branches.
