Shop all Omega watches: http://bit.ly/2v2XXR9 The Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch "Alaska Project" Limited Edition is a 2008 limited edition of 1,970 pieces. Based the Omega Speedmaster prototype series know as the "Project Alaska II," this limited edition re-creates the famous red anodized aluminum thermal shield that was designed to protect this Omega Moonwatch from the temperature extremes of outer space. Its extraordinary size and bulk offers additional security to an otherwise standard size Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch. Thanks to its aluminum heat shield, the Alaska Project Moonwatch was protected against temperatures spanning -148 degrees celsius to 260 degrees celsius. The Moonwatch itself received substantial dial revisions as part of the Alaska Project to improve resilience and legibility. A chalk white dial was chosen to better reflect radiant heat, and a special "lunar lander" chronograph hands in black improve the ease of reading chronograph minutes and hours. Additional accessories for the Omega Speedmaster Professional Alaska Project 311.32.42.30.04.001 include a special boxed set encompassing a full stainless steel bracelet, spare spring bars, strap tools, and a white nylon strap that can be fitted in conjunction with the red aluminum case. A standard Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch caliber 1861 has been fitted. This 18-jewel manual wind movement includes a 48-hour power reserve, beat rate of 21,600 vibrations per hour, and a robust cam-cycled later clutch chronograph. Caliber 1861 remains certified for and used in space by NASA and astronauts of allied nations. The Omega Speedmaster Project Alaska 311.32.42.30.04.001 is encased in 42mm of stainless steel surrounding a white dial on a white nylon velcro NATO strap. Functions include hours, minutes, seconds, tachymeter, and chronograph. The watch also measures 14.2mm in thickness and 48mm from lug-to-lug. For complete details, watch the full review!
