The Capacity Building Institute concludes its long-standing, Capacity-Building Webinar Series with a powerful and reflective conversation centred on Indigenous wellness, land, and culture. In this final episode, host Sam Laprade is joined by Launa Payne and Sherrelle Anderson, Co-Founders of Rise Up Indigenous Wellness, for an interview-style discussion on how environmental and grassroots non-profit organizations can thoughtfully and respectfully integrate Indigenous teachings into their organizational culture and programming. Together, the speakers explore how Indigenous wellness frameworks, rooted in land, culture, community, and holistic health, provide meaningful guidance for ENGO leaders navigating burnout, capacity constraints, and the growing need for mental health support. What This Webinar Covers: 1) Indigenous approaches to holistic wellness and the principle that Land is Medicine and Culture Heals 2) Building respectful, relationship-based partnerships with First Nations communities 3) Creating culturally safe spaces within non-profit organizations 4) Practical ways ENGOs can integrate land-based learning and Indigenous perspectives 5) Challenges related to funding, capacity, and programming and how organizations can navigate them 6) Why Indigenous-led approaches are essential to ethical engagement and reconciliation This conversation is especially relevant for Executive Directors, program leaders, and staff of small and grassroots environmental non-profits seeking to strengthen organizational resilience while honouring Indigenous knowledge systems.
