Blue skies over Ute Valley Park. Hank and I headed up Rattlesnake Ridge Trail under clear Colorado skies — a perfect 68°F morning. Looking south down the Front Range, you could clearly see Cheyenne Mountain standing proud. In a couple of quick shots, the tops of Pikes Peak and Almagre Mountain peek into view as well. The ponderosa pines gave cool shade to the dormant oak brush, still waiting for spring to wake it up. The trails were dusty with the lack of snow this season — so Hank earned himself a quick rinse-off and a little paw pad lotion treatment afterward. No rattlesnakes this time of year — winter still keeps them tucked away — but we’re always extra careful in the summer. You just never know out here. Crisp air. Quiet trail. Colorado doing what Colorado does best. Some walks are just about movement. Others are about perspective.
