While this hand-building video was made for my students who are currently working from home, with a kit from me, many of the kit items can be substituted with things found at home. We’ll make 2 small bowls, by slumping slabs, then join them together at their rims, creating an air filled sphere, shape it into a box, then cut out our lid. Enjoy! The Hand-Building Kit includes: -Work board (18" x 18" Hardibacker board works well) -Vinyl/Canvas fabric -Thickness guide sticks (I use a 1/4" thick yardstick from Lowes, sawed in half) -Pottery hand tools (wire cutter, sponge, pottery rib, pottery scoring tool, needle tool, knife) -Plastic sheets of varying thickness -Clay, 1 lb Other items used, found at home: -Rolling pin -Round Plastic to-go Containers -T-shirt material, cut into squares -Rubber bands -Cardboard squares -Cornstarch to keep things from sticking -Sock filled with small grains to round your clay -Spray bottle of water -Plastic sheets or plastic containers to control drying -Vinegar -Paintbrush
