Some of the major races introduced within the Stargate franchise appeared to have a rebel faction, of sorts. For example, the seemingly all-powerful Goa’uld antagonists of the original Stargate movie and the subsequent Stargate SG-1 series included the Tok’ra, a sympathetic force to humanity. In the case of the Asgard, introduced in Stargate SG-1, at the time, were the only allied race with the means and willingness to oppose and beat the Goa’uld with little effort.
