Mission, TX - The Rio Grande Valley (RGV) is quickly becoming a hub for Information Technology (IT) in Texas. With the increasing demand for IT professionals in the region, employers are seeking qualified candidates to fill open positions. To address this need, Workforce Solutions (WFS) partnered with the City of Mission and the Mission Economic Development Corporation (EDC) to host a job fair. The RGV in the past five (5) years experienced a growth of 59% (2017-2022) in IT related jobs which is well above the state’s 41% and nation’s 24%. The IT related jobs are projected to continue growing by 26% within the next five (5) years (2022-2027) surpassing the state’s 22% and nation’s 15% projections. The projected growth rate indicates the importance of the IT cross-industry field in the region’s future economic prosperity. Furthermore, those who pursue careers in IT can expect to earn competitive salaries. The average salary for IT occupations, ranging from Software Publishers to Data Processing and Administrative Management, in the RGV is $86K, which is higher than the $49k average salary for all occupations in the region.
