In this video, Himalayan Master and Yogi Sri Svami Purna Maharaj leads a Guided Meditation or Upasana dedicated to Lord Surya, who is also known as the Sun God. In the Vedic tradition, the time of Makar Sankranti is considered an auspicious time to worship Lord Surya; however, this Upasana can be done any time throughout the year to support connecting to the Divine Essence of Suryadev. During the month of January in India, many travel to the shores of Ma Ganga to engage in sadhana (spiritual practices) for a set period of time, such as one week or one month. While the physical focus can be on the actual sun, an Upasana meditation looks to the essence of the inner Sun: the infinite Light, the Atma (Soul), which is your Divine Nature ultimately. Also, a number of mantra may be chanted invoking the different qualities of Lord Surya in order to nurture these more fully in one's life and path; e.g., Illumination, Vitality, Radiance, Self-effulgence, Nourishment, Enlightenment. To support your practice, these are the mantras chanted by Sri Svamiji in the video recording: OM NAMO SŪRYĀYA OM NAMO BHĀSKARĀYA OM NAMO DIVĀYA OM NAMO TEJĀYA OM NAMO PRKĀSHĀYA OM SŪRYO JYOTIR JYOTIḤ SŪRYO SVĀHĀ 🌞 If you would like to find audio recordings of Sri Svamiji's Teachings similar to this Upasana or Discourses He has given over the years, visit the Adhyatmik Foundation website's Store here: https://www.adhyatmik.org/recordings.... 🕉 To subscribe to our mailing list for event updates and future offerings please visit https://www.adhyatmik.org/ Adhyatmik Foundation is a 501(c)3 organization established in 1983 with a view to providing a balanced and healthy approach to life for people of any race, religion, gender, age or philosophy.
