Hobie Motor Mount

Simple, reliable electric motor mount for Hobie kayaks. Although I offered this design to Hobie, they turned it down saying that they did not accept ideas or designs from folks that do not work for Hobie (this is common among most manufacturers and entirely understandable). The specific geometry of the unit is what keeps it in place without any screws, straps, bungees, etc., etc., etc. It's rock solid and does exactly what it was designed to do. No I do not manufacture these. I built a few for friends and that's it. The purpose of this video is to give others the idea for their own use. I will mention that the geometry of the mount is critical. 1/4 inch here, 1 degree there, and the mount will not stay in place. As it is designed, any force from the motor, either forward or reverse, solidly secures the mount in place. With one minor adjustment, the same mount will fit and work on any current Hobie kayak with the standard molded in rod holder.
