You are welcome to listen to and chant along with this chant to Rama (and Sita and Hanuman)! This is perhaps the most rhythmically difficult chant, as it alternates between 6/4 and 6/8 time as it goes through the two sets of words. Starting with the first section in 6/4, it moves to the second section in 6/8, then back to 6/4 and the first set of word in a new melody, then to the second set of words again in 6/8 time with a new melody for one call and response and finally a variation of that melody for the final call and response before going back to the beginning. Thus, the structure can be thought of as 1a - 2a - 1b - 2b1 - 2b2 with the alternating time signature (except 2b1 and 2b2 are both in 6/8. This was one of our former group's long-time drummer's favorite chants to play. The words to this chant are: Raama Hanumaan Sitaa Raam Raam Raam Hanumaan Meaning of the words: It is a calling out to both Sita - Rama's beloved - and Rama. The chant also calls out to Hanumaan, the devoted monkey-being who many believe to be an incarnation of Lord Shiva, who is believed to have taken birth as Hanuman in order to serve Lord Vishnu. Lord Rama, along with Lord Krishna, are the two best known incarnations of Lord Vishnu, and Sita is considered to be an incarnation of Mahalakshmi. This video is one of a new series of kirtan videos which will over time encompass all the chants that the Universe has brought through me that I've included in my Bliss of Kirtan music book, with the chant videos matching the music for the chants as given in Western music notation in the book. (Link for free download: https://nateshkirtan.com/bliss-of-kir...) Each recording is intended to be an opportunity to take a journey to your own inner Divinity by chanting to the Divine, which is none other than our very own Self. The chants are in typical "call-response" form and I am chanting the calls and the responses so someone can easily chant along as each part is repeated. The recordings are all around 20-22 minutes long, enough to also be used for Mohanji Conscious Chanting (https://mohanji.org/mohanji-conscious.... May you be blessed with the bliss of kirtan and the fullness of bhakti through this beautiful practice of chanting the Divine Name in its many forms! Please share with your kirtan-loving friends! Happy chanting! Natesh https://nateshkirtan.com Note to my subscribers/viewers: My sincere apologies for the appearance of ads on any of my videos!
