The overall objective of the ECS (European Citizen Science) project is to increase the capacity of European society to engage the public in scientific research through citizen science. 1.5 years into the project, ECS has been working on different strands of the project, including data practices in citizen science, impact evaluation, the ECS Academy (training and capacity building), and policy priorities. At the online event on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, we shared the project's results and experiences thus far in an event designed for interactive discussion on the topics mentioned above. The event comprised two parts: The initial part featured four input presentations covering key topics of ECS by colleagues involved in the project. Presenters shared insights, progress updates, and lessons learned from their exploration of these subjects. short introduction to the ECS project by Claudia Fabó Cartas from ECSA (2:36) Input presentations: data practices in citizen science, by Amalia Cardenas from CSIC (5:39) impact evaluation, by Teresa Schaefer from ZSI (16:09) ECS Academy, capacity building and training by Muki Haklay by UPCité/LPI (29:03) policy priorities, by Marius Oesterheld from MfN (38:08) Relevant project results, such as reports and deliverables, were provided through shared links, available here: https://padlet.com/ccfabo/ECSshowcase The second part of the event was interactive. Participants joined one of four breakout rooms (i.e. smaller virtual rooms with fewer participants), each dedicated to the topics addressed in the first part to engage in conversation with the presenters and other participants and share experiences and knowledge. This part was not recorded. ECS is a project funded by the EU.
