BATTLE DJ MIXER SHOOT-OUT: Troubleshooting, cleaning and testing the Limited Edition version of the much-loved Stanton SK-2F mixer (with the optical cross-fader), and a comparison to the performance and features of the original SK-2F. I was surprised by what I found! I've had the original SK-2F since around 2002, and it remains my favourite mixer to date. Its "Focus Fader" is optical and contactless, with none of the usual parts that wear or burn out over time. It's fantastic for skratch DJs. A trade-off with the "V1" Focus Fader is, this cross-fader has no curve; it can only cut sound in/out. Given that, Stanton also provides a traditional cross-fader that you can swap in if you want an adjustable curve. The "Stanton SK-2F Limited Edition" mixer looked to be the holy grail, with an optical "V2" Focus Fader - no parts to wear out, and an adjustable curve. This sounds like the mixer we've all been waiting for. It also has mini cross-faders instead of traditional line/phono switches, so you can also attempt to cut and crab those controls - and, you can play both line and phono at the same time! ... Interesting, but perhaps, impractical? I found an SK-2F LE for $50 on eBay, and was excited to try it out. The results are certainly interesting. There's a chance I could have missed something, so please let me know if you have a SK-2F LE and know more about the adjustable curve, L/P cross-faders, and performance of the Focus Fader 2-based crossfader. 🙇♂️ THANK-YOUS 🎵 Forgiveness, not permission. I suspect this is because I layered in the "Wake Up Beat" from PBW, but the match doesn't make any sense. Notwithstanding, I do like Younge's work as well. • Just Love (Instrumental) Bodikhuu - "De Janeiro" • Bodikhuu - De Janeiro "4-3-2-1 / TV sound" sequence (a personal favourite): "Hack the planet!" • Hackers (2/4) Hack the Planet (1995) HD FX: "Old TV Green Screen Pack #2" (Creative Commons) • Old TV Green Screen Pack 2 Numark turntable + mixer photos: djresource.eu
