With barely one minute of actual racing this will never be the go-to video for 1950’s motor racing. However it is an excellent snapshot of the time. Featured is probably the only racing footage of (Sir) William Bunbury’s F.C.B. The body was made of wood by legendry Woodbridge boat-builder Austin Farrah on a chassis constructed by Coe’s of Ipswich and powered by a Standard 10 engine. During the day it was raced by Bunbury himself and Jack Sears. Also featured is the D.B.M a Ford 1172 cc Special co-owned by Clerk-of-the-Course John “Digger” Digby and Monty Baker Munton of Stowmarket. Briefly shown (in slow-mo) is Donald Morley in his father’s Riley Pathfinder. A couple of weeks later he and twin brother Erle were heading off to Holland in it for the Tulip Rally. Talking of rally drivers, taking part were “Tish” Ozanne (Ford 100E), Bert Westwood (Healey Silverstone) and Peter Wren (Ford 100E) As stated at the beginning, with less than two minutes of cine footage this video was never destined to win an award but I think you will enjoy it!
